Golf

There are two golf courses within driving distance of the Austin area:

| Round Mountain | Battle Mountain |

Round Mountain

Round Mountain (64 miles south) Take Highway 50 East to the junction of SR 376, turn south into Big Smoky Valley. The golf course is located in the Hadley subdivision. Near mile marker 45, you will see the Pablo Canyon Road heading west. Turn again at Electrum Drive, the entrance to the golf course in on the right.

Heralded as the "Best Golf Course in Rural Nevada" in a reader's survey by Nevada Magazine, Round Mountain Golf Course is a shining example of the natural blend of true links style golf, high desert, and a mountain setting.

Nestled in the Big Smoky Valley and framed by the majestic peaks of the Toiyabe mountain range to the west and the Toquima mountain range to the east, lies a unique golf experience that only Central Nevada can offer.

With it's lush rolling fairways and greens ordered by windswept hillocks and grass bunkers, one is reminded of the great golf courses of the British Isles. Yet, when you gaze in all directions, you feel as if you are playing in the Swiss Alps.

Round Mountain Golf Course is a 9-hole course. Four different sets of tee boxes on each hole make the course an inviting challenge for all levels of players. There are plenty of water hazards, too, as three lakes and two streams come into play on 8 of the 9 holes.

The par 72 course stretches 5022 yards from the front tees to a demanding 7138 yards from the tips — making it the 6th longest 18-hole course in Nevada. Not only that, but Round Mountain Golf Course is the longest 9-hole golf course in Nevada at 3,569 yards from the back tees.

Because of the stunning beauty of the golf course and the surrounding area, the hardest thing to do at Round Mountain GC is to concentrate on your golf game. Your game here is what you make it.

In addition to the fabulous golf course, the Pro Shop at Round Mountain is well stocked and very competitively priced with every thing the golfer might need. Also at the facility is a 25 station, all grass driving range and Golf Professional Leo Vath is on hand to give lessons to golfers of all ages and abilities, helping them improve their game and increase their enjoyment of the game of golf.

The Half Moon Restaurant and Bar is right next to the Pro Shop and offers great food and a place to sip on a beverage of your choice to celebrate a super day on the links.

Other amenities in the immediate area are a gas station, grocery store, RV Park, heated swimming pool, tennis courts, and park. There is also a 5,000’ paved runway available for the private pilot.
